A traditional trawler made by the Anciens Chantiers Dubigeon (ACD) in Nantes, the Volontaire (SM767) was launched in February 1950. It was armed by the Malo Trawler Association, and its home port was Saint-Malo in Brittany. MARIE JEANNE was her sister ship whose home port was CONCARNEAU. Very modern for the time, it was equipped with a 1100 horsepower BW (Burmeister and Wain) diesel engine. Originally designed to fish from both sides, it was later modified to remove the trawl gallows from port side. Decommissioned at the beginning of the 1970s, it was dismantled in Bilbao in March 1973.
