The TU-22M3 was operated by the Soviet Air Force as a strategic nuclear bomber and by the Soviet Navy as a long-range maritime anti-shipping bomber. The TU-22M3 made simulated attacks on US Naval units and tested Japanese Air defense capabilities on several occasions. The TU-22M3 was first used in Afghanistan from 1987 to 1989 for aerial bombardment. The TU-22M3 is still shown as listed in active duty in the Russian and Ukrainian Air Force. The new TU-22M3 is offered for the first time in over 20 years and features “swing wing” design, recessed panel lines and new Soviet and Ukrainian markings.
